We were very privileged to be asked to work on an exciting new construction project in Woking, Surrey.
A large public building had been commissioned to have art exhibitions, displays etc. for the people of Surrey.
The site was in the centre of Woking, alongside a busy main road on one side and the Basingstoke canal on the other.
The landscape architect, Mr Edward Hutchinson had designed a wonderful quiet garden for artistic contemplation screened
from the busy traffic by a gabian wall (metal cages filled with natural stone) The canal side vista was left open so that
a tranquil oasis was formed for the use of the gallery patrons.
Kingston Garden Services installed the avenue of specimen amelanchier and also the incidental planting to the beds
adjacent to the gabian wall.
More naturalistic planting was used to augment planting to the canal bank. A low hedge of ilex aquifolium provided
gentle demarcation between public area and canal frontage.
